DAYTONA BEACH — The operators of the Daytona Lagoon waterpark and family entertainment center are adding coronavirus safety features in anticipation of reopening soon, but will not be ready in time for Memorial Day Weekend.
“Right now, we don’t have a date for reopening,” said General Manager Tyler Currie on Tuesday.
Currie said he and his staff are working on putting together a plan for reopening that includes coronavirus safety measures to submit for approval from the Governor’s Office.
“Even if we were to get approval immediately we would still need time to rehire workers and to train them (on the new COVID-19 safety procedures),” he said.
The new safety measures will include providing masks for all employees who will be required to wear them while on duty, doing temperature checks and health screens for all workers at the start of their shifts, and adding sanitizer stations for guest use throughout the complex.
